A Walk in the Clouds

I was recently invited to join the 185th Air Refueling Wing out of Sioux City on a Pastor’s Orientation Flight.  What an amazing day.  I want to say “Thank You” to the men and women who made this possible, and for their service to our country.  Below are some pictures:

Oh! I have slipped the surly bonds of Earth
And danced the skies on laughter-silvered wings;

Sunward I’ve climbed, and joined the tumbling mirth
Of sun-split clouds, — and done a hundred things
You have not dreamed of — wheeled and soared and swung
High in the sunlit silence. Hov’ring there,

PICT0018
I’ve chased the shouting wind along, and flung
My eager craft through footless halls of air. . . .

Up, up the long, delirious burning blue
I’ve topped the wind-swept heights with easy grace
PICT0045

Where never lark, or ever eagle flew —
And, while with silent, lifting mind I’ve trod
PICT0057

The high untrespassed sanctity of space,
Put out my hand, and touched the face of God.

What a glorious God we have; that He would inspire the hearts and minds of His people to reach into the skies.
