Day One Wrap Up

“I can do all things through Him who gives me strength.”
Philippians 4:13

Day One has come to a restful conclusion. Mercifully, we’ve made it to Miami safely, actually, better than we expected. We discovered at the check in gate in Omaha that international flights have one free checked bag, so that saved us about $250.00 right off the start – what a blessing.
The flights were safe, smooth, and on-time, the three things that matter most in air travel.
Then there was the near death experience in the shuttle van taking us to our hotel for the night. Many prayers were said.
While waiting to board our plane in Dallas, we gathered for our first daily devotion. We read about Gideon’s call, and compared his to many of other calls to serve the Lord that are found in Scripture. Just about every time God calls, we have an excuse. I’m not strong enough, I can’t speak well enough, I don’t know enough, I can’t… I don’t… We talked about the limitations we tend to place on ourselves, and how we feel challenged by the week ahead of us.
Then we saw how in every one of those calls we discussed, God answers their doubt with His promise to be with them, to be their strength, their shield, their guard, to give them the words they would need. That promise is the same for us.
Jesus said as he sent His disciples into the world, “I am with you, even to the end of the age.” His presence is our strength, for we can do all things through Christ who strengthens us.

  2. Hi Ethan. I’m with the First Christian Church in Garnett now. We sent a group to Haiti last spring. They were moved and inspired by what they saw. Blessings to you, brother, and all with you! Doug L.
